My Overall Thoughts on Suja Greens
Suja Organic Greens Powder definitely exudes a health halo. Being USDA organic is excellent; however, it sometimes gives people the green light to overlook potential disadvantages.
- Suja contains over 55 ingredients packed into a 12-gram scoop. While many people may think more ingredients equals more nutrition, this is not necessarily the case. All ingredients vie for space in the small scoop, so many of the ingredients may not have enough room to be effectively dosed.
- Suja Organic Greens Powder also adds synthetic vitamins and minerals. This may not always be a bad thing, as this supplement may double as a multivitamin for some people. However, since it contains 100% or more of several micronutrients, you may be overdosing on these nutrients if you’re also taking other multivitamins or eating foods that are fortified, such as nutrition bars, refined grains, and cereals.
- Lastly, Suja only contains 1 billion CFU of probiotics, which for most people is not enough to make a difference in digestive health. However, having only 1 billion CFU was likely a specific formulation strategy to help ensure they could call their product USDA organic. This is because a food or supplement must have at least 95% or more organic ingredients to carry this label, and more probiotics would have likely pushed them out of this 95% range.
Ingredient Analysis
Suja Organic Greens Powder includes a wide array of “functional ingredients” in their supplement. Let’s take a closer look at each blend within Suja Organic Greens to better understand its ingredient quality.

Greens & Superfoods Blend (4854.5mg)
As the primary blend in Suja Greens, this combination of ingredients includes a wide variety of everyday vegetables and fruits as well as superfoods more well-known in the greens powder formulas.
One interesting ingredient is broccoli sprouts. This differs from the well-known broccoli we often eat, which is also included in this blend. Broccoli sprouts are the tender shoots that develop in the first five days of germination. These tender plants are packed with the phytocompound glucoraphanin, which converts to sulforaphane when we chew it. This powerful nutrient has anti-inflammatory properties and may help support brain function and gut health.
This blend also contains nutrient-packed grasses, such as wheatgrass juice powder, alfalfa grass juice powder, barley grass juice powder, oat grass juice powder, plus health-promoting algae like spirulina, blue-green Klamath Lake blue-green algae, and chlorella (cracked cell) powder.
The Greens & Superfoods Blend also contains added fiber from acacia powder, also known as gum arabic, which is a soluble fiber supplement.
Of note: As a dietitian, I always look at the order of ingredients, as these must always be listed in order of most to least. We can see that organic kale, broccoli, spinach, coconut water powder, and spirulina take up the most room in this blend. I’m always a bit curious when coconut water powder is a primary ingredient, because even though it may provide some benefits, it can also be seen as a filler as it’s not quite as nutritionally dense as a powdered vegetable.
Restoratives and Mushroom Blend (3782mg)
Suja Organic Greens Powder has quite the blend of adaptogenic mushrooms. Adaptogens may help the body better handle internal and external stressors, such as anxiety and fatigue.
For example, Maitake mushroom extract may support adrenal function, reishi mushroom extract may support sleep, and shiitake mushroom extract contains antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties. Research finds that these mushrooms are also a great source of bioactive compounds.
Of note: Interestingly, the very first, and therefore highest volume ingredient, in this blend is oat milk powder. This ingredient is not found in many green supplements and is usually added to foods and supplements to enhance the product’s taste and texture. Since oat milk powder does not contain many nutrients, I assume this ingredient is taking up valuable space simply to help the product taste better.
Immune & Digestive Blend (2319.5mg)
What I like about this blend is that it includes Jerusalem artichoke, a plant that naturally contains resistant starch. This type of fiber feeds our beneficial bacteria, who then produce the short-chain fatty acids crucial to help maintain gut health.
Other ingredients that may help support digestive health in this blend include slippery elm, which may help the stomach and intestines produce more protective mucus, and dandelion root extract, which may support healthy digestion as it contains the prebiotic fiber inulin.
I also like that Suja Greens provides 9 digestive enzymes, however, it only contains 1 billion CFU probiotics, which is far below the recommended dose.
Suja Health Claims
Research has proven that plants are incredibly beneficial for our health and longevity. While there are not enough studies on green supplements to prove their health benefits, because these are usually made with whole plants, there could be some benefits depending on the quality of the product.

Let’s look at the health benefits in Suja to see if they stack up.
Nutrition Boost
Suja Organic Greens Powder adds synthetic vitamins and minerals to their product, making it double as a multivitamin. For many people, delivering essential vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients will help boost their micronutrient intake.
While the supplement facts panel declares 17 vitamins and minerals, 12 of which are added, there are missing essential vitamins such as selenium, manganese, molybdenum, iodine, and vitamin K. However, be aware that Suja likely does contain vitamin K, as this nutrient is found in nearly all leafy greens and many other vegetables, they just have not declared how much. This is important to think about if you are on specific medications.
It is also likely that Suja Greens contains antioxidants derived from the plants in its formulation, which helps boost nutrition as well. Additionally, Suja claims to provide a full serving of greens.
Immune Support
With the addition of synthetic 100% vitamin C, 100% vitamin D, and 55% zinc, Suja may support immunity, as these nutrients play a role in immune function.
Some adaptogenic mushrooms may also aid immune response, such as Turkey Tail mushroom extract and Chaga mushroom extract. The combination of these ingredients may help provide immune support for those who use Suja Organic Greens Powder daily.
Energy Maintenance
We get energy from the foods that we eat. Carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are broken down into substrates that our cells then convert to energy. To make this process happen, specific micronutrients are needed, including the B vitamins, iron, vitamin C, zinc, and magnesium.
All of these nutrients, with the exception of magnesium, are present in Suja Organic Greens Powder, meaning that this formula may help support energy production for some people.
Interestingly, Suja Greens contains whole coffee fruit extract (coffeeberry), green tea leaf extract, and green coffee fruit extract (Svetol), and yet the company states that testing shows negligible caffeine in the product. This may point to the fact that the ingredients in Suja are diluted and not effectively dosed.
Gut Regulation
With the addition of acacia powder and Jerusalem artichoke, Suja does a good job of adding prebiotic fibers to their formula. These fibers help to support gut health by feeding our good bacteria.
Additionally, Suja Organic Greens Powder contains nine digestive enzymes, which help to break down food into more absorbable substances. These include lipase, pectinase, protease, and invertase, among others.
However, Suja does not feature many colony-forming units, containing only 1 billion CFU probiotics, which is far from an effective dose. Usually taking enough probiotics alongside prebiotics has the most beneficial effect due to their synergistic qualities.
If you are looking for a quality green supplement to help support your digestive health, Suja Greens may not be the best choice for you.
Pricing and Discounts
Suja Organic Greens Powder’s price runs slightly higher than the average greens supplement.

Customer Testimonials
Even when the ingredients are high quality, the company prioritizes safety, and the benefits are amazing, a greens powder that clumps and tastes like compost probably won’t make it into your daily routine.
To help you make your final decision on the best greens supplement for your needs, here are some Suja Organic Greens Powder customer reviews.
Taste and Texture
The good news is that at least three-quarters of customer reviews seem to be mostly positive when it comes to Suja Greens’ taste and texture. This is reflected by the 4.5 stars average rating value on Amazon.
Customer reviews often point out that while the powder is unflavored, the taste is slightly sweet and surprisingly pleasant. Additionally, most people find the greens mix well into smoothies and usually are not clumpy or gritty.
“Initially, I was a bit hesitant about how it would taste. I've tried greens powders in the past that were either too earthy or had a weird aftertaste. However, Suja’s blend has a surprisingly pleasant flavor. I usually mix it with almond milk or add it to my smoothies, and it enhances the taste without overpowering it. It's subtly sweet and refreshing, which makes it enjoyable to drink.” (B.F.)
“This powder mixes with ease, and it doesn’t get chalky or leave a chalky taste in my mouth.” (B.A.)
While positive reviews are the majority, some customer reviews pan the flavor and find the powder clumpy. Many mentioned that adding it to a morning smoothie was the only way they could tolerate the taste.
“Not for me at all. Absolutely disgusting in my opinion, couldn’t even drink more than a sip. It did mix in very well while using a hand frother. I like all the ingredients included in it but just can’t get past the taste to be able to drink it.” (H.)
“The taste was awful to me. The barf-like smell. And it has such a bitter taste. I'm trying out different ways to make it better, but it's not so easy. It's not bad. I love the idea. I don't get enough veggies in me. It just a hard taste for me.” (C.S.)
It should be noted that most reviews on the Suja Organic Greens Powder website mentioned they "received an incentive for this review" and were originally posted on influenster.com.
Reported Results
While most people report not seeing results at the time of comment, there are a few customers who take Suja Organic Greens because they feel it helps with energy and digestive support.
“What I really like is how it makes me feel. I’ve noticed my digestion is way better, and I don’t feel as heavy after meals. Energy-wise, it’s not like drinking a coffee, but there’s this steady, natural boost throughout the day that’s nice.” (T.R.)
“It isn't very sweet but has just enough to make it drinkable. I didn't really feel an energy boost from it, so I'm sure how effective it is if that is what you are looking for. It is on the more expensive side, but it seems very healthy. I haven't decided if I'll buy it again yet.” (Y.M.)
Weighing In: Is Suja Greens Worth It?
While Suja is new to the greens market, it’s making a big impact with customers so far. This greens powder contains a wide scope of vegetables, adaptogens, and plants. It’s USDA Organic, and while it does not seem to be produced in a GMP-certified facility, it’s third-party tested. On the downside, there are so many ingredients that those present may not be effectively dosed and it only contains 1 billion CFU probiotics.
While I do believe that Suja Organic Greens Powder is a strong contender, there are other great greens powders out there like Live it Up Super Greens that have a higher concentration of superfoods, which means more effective dosing.
The bottom line is that everyone’s needs are individual, and this means the greens powder you choose should also fall in line with your overall goals. Many factors may go into finding the best greens powder for your overall health goals.
As a dietitian, I must also note that a greens powder does not replace the need for lots of whole vegetables, fruit, and plants in your diet. Be sure to focus most of your energy on getting plenty of these foods to help reach your best health.

While everyone notices different results, consuming a greens powder daily may support energy levels, digestive balance, bloating discomfort, and a healthy immune response.
Benefits rely heavily on a green powder’s ingredients, dosing, and micronutrients. With that said, eating enough plants in the diet is critical to overall health and wellness. A greens powder should not replace these, rather it should be used to enhance a balanced diet.

The most important thing when it comes to weight loss is maintaining a calorie deficit, or fewer calories than what the body needs. This, combined with exercise, make up the critical foundation for losing weight.
