What to expect in your first session with this dietitian?
We will start our journey together by getting to know each other. I'll complete a thorough assessment by asking details about your health history and lifestyle to create a custom plan tailored to you. Working together, we'll set realistic goals and develop strategies to help you achieve them. I'll also provide customized nutrition education to enable you to achieve your goals. By the end of our first session together, you will be armed with the tools to start your new health journey, and have a set of personalized goals with a clear direction of how to achieve them.

Approach to care

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over six years of counseling experience. My journey to becoming a dietitian started in an unlikely place - a fast food restaurant - but the twists and turns along the way made me realize what I was truly passionate about. My supervisor at the restuarant happened to be a dietitian, and from speaking with her I had decided to pursue a career in nutrition where I could help others. Through my training and early career at Duke University Hospital, I truly fell in love with how nutrition could support patients with chronic conditions reach their goals - whether that was reducing medications, feeling more energized, or simply feeling confident enough again to nourish their bodies and feel good in their own skin. I was also able to apply my knowledge to help manage my spouse’s Crohn’s disease, and I was able to assist my mother as she adapted her diet in the setting of a new diagnosis of IBS and diverticulosis on top of existing food intolerances. I later became a family medicine Physician's Assistant, in addition to an RDN. My specialties include working with clients who have chronic medical conditions and and those seeking a better relationship with nutrition, health, and their body. This includes renal and liver disease, renal transplant, diabetes, weight management, bariatric surgery, and GI disorders.

Hobbies

I enjoy simplicity. I live in rural Virginia on Lake Gaston, and I love sitting on my porch with a glass of sweet tea with my best friend (my husband!), and our cat, Caroline. I enjoy going for a swim, taking my kayak out, or hanging out with our neighbors on the lake. I also enjoy listening to music, attending my local church, and cooking.

More About This Dietitian

I believe that food truly can be medicine, and that all foods fit in a balanced, nutritious diet. I help clients make sustainable changes to their eating and movement patterns to accomplish their goals. The client is at the center of everything I do, and listening to a client’s needs and desires is paramount to success. I believe that together, we can make a difference in your life and health.

"This Dietitian helped me get my life back”

Gia M.

In my first meeting with Rebecca G and I was very impressed by her knowledge base and her ability to connect with patients. As a healthcare provider myself (for over 25 years) it is a pleasure to work with a clinician who is willing to listen and employ personalized strategies with empathy. I am delighted to work with her and will recommend this service and Rebecca to others!!

Mariam

Rebecca taught me how to create healthy (and sustainable) habits for myself. I really appreciated her working with me on making these habits something I could easily incorporate into my life.
