Frequently asked questions

What makes an expert online dietitian nutritionist?

An expert online nutritionist is someone with a degree and/or certification(s) in nutrition. They work with you and healthcare professionals to improve a patient’s health by addressing their dietary needs and medical concerns through a nutrition plan.

How much does online nutritionist coaching cost?

Depending on your requirements, insurance coverage, and the online nutritionist you choose, the cost of nutrition counseling may be charged hourly, weekly, or monthly. The cost of coaching will also depend on whether the insurance provider and type are accepted. Generally, you can expect to pay between $100 and $300 an hour for coaching, or around $1,000 every three months if you purchase a bundle plan.

What does a two-week, risk-free trial mean?

You can try out our nutrition counseling services for two weeks without putting yourself or your money at risk. Once you've been matched to a specialist, you'll have two weeks to gauge whether their services are right for you. If, after that two-week period has ended, you'd like to continue on your nutrition journey, you can do so with no additional effort or signup. If, however, you'd like to end the service and part ways, our service will issue a 100% refund of your money.

What does the matching specialist help with?

During the matching process, we refer you to a nutrition specialist based on your specific health concerns and goals. Once paired, your specialist will help you transform those goals into a step-by-step plan intended to maximize your chances for success. Along the way, your specialist will set up regular check-ins to make sure you're on the right track and talk about any changes or concerns you might have about your nutrition counseling. As you grow and learn more about your needs, your dedicated dietitian will modify and adapt your program to match that progress.

What if I don't like the recommendations a matching specialist provides?

The online nutrition specialist you are put in touch with will work hard to find the best solutions for your situation. If, after being matched, you are presented with a range of options that don't meet your needs, you should speak with your specialist and discuss alternative options. Remember that improving your health is both a process and a collaboration, and it may take time to identify exactly the right course of action for your lifestyle.

What's the difference between a nutritionist vs a dietitian?

While nutritionists and dietitians provide similar services, there are key differences between the two. In particular, anyone who calls themselves a dietitian must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or CRD. The CRD is an organization that ensures all dietitians adhere to best practices and care standards. We recommend only working with companies that have registered dietitian on staff.

Does health insurance cover online nutritionist and dietitian coaching?

Depending on the service you choose and your insurance provider, your health insurance may partially or fully cover online nutrition counseling. Before selecting a plan, speak with your health insurance provider to confirm whether a specific nutrition counseling package will be accepted for a claim and what percent of the service cost is covered. Your health insurance provider will likely cover at least some of the nutrition coaching costs because it is considered preventive care.
